Orvis was founded in Manchester – Vermont, by Charles F. Orvis. It was 1856, when Mr. Orvis came up with the idea of selling fishing tackle. Since then, the company may have switched over a multitude of board of directors, CEOs and staff members, but it has never compromised on quality.
In the fishing industry, this company’s products are treated with respect and dignity - So much so that they are able to lure in a fish as heavy as an 800 Lbs. Gorilla – it’s in titular terms of course. Charles left for his heavenly abode in 1915. Afterwards his sons: Robert and Albert ran the company until the mid-30s. Since 2000, the company has been known to adopt a brand strictly centered on sporting goods, instructional books, CDs and Podcasts that help all sorts of fishermen and anglers.
